My mom was super lucky and got to hang out with my new cousin Mikayla on Friday afternoon. She also got to see Morgan. So not fair Ma! Next time I want to go!
Though I got left behind (again) for what looked like a delicious dinner at Wolfgangs with Dad's college buds...I did get a new holiday gift and a babysitter who is able to teach me how to use it...
Saturday night was my favorite part of the holiday weekend. Have you ever had so much fun you just barfed on your jammies? Check this out...Christmakka 2010 (which has been an annual gathering that my mom hosts for Dad's high school friends) --- went as follows:
A dessert table filled with coke, canolis, caramel peanut coated apples, sugar cookies and mini smores + chocolate pretzel pies. Oh MY.
Only one thing seemed kinda weird...my mom was dressed like an elf! What? She told me it's Christmakka and we've got to get into the spirit...oh man. Help me.
Funny story actually...my Papa was telling me that when I was cookin' inside Ma's belly and they were coming up with my name...he really liked Avery for a boy. Well Mom wasn't a fan. So she had to come up with a way out of it. She looked online and to her surprise found on Babynames.com. - the meaning of the name Avery is: Elf Ruler. Mom...you saved me...but you need to save yourself!
I'll let this madness slide considering the spread she put on...Let's see here....Mom's famous latkes...that are like Rosti potatoes, not like Boobie's Latkes.
Apple/Pecan Slaw - recipe available upon request...it's my Aunt Debi's and I don't think she'll mind...it's out of this world and was a huge hit with the crowd...
Jerk seasoned chicken and honey garlic "Miami" ribs? Ok do you know what a Miami rib is? Me neither. My mom and I asked Aunt D to explain...guess it's a Canadian thing? So it's basically just short ribs...thinly sliced. We learned it's also know as "flanken". Long of the short here...mom should have had way more...they went super quick...and she had to double the sauce recipe...but forgot. The oven was basically on fire and she almost burnt the apartment building down. BUT luckily we survived and got some pretty tasty ribs out of it!! And the chicken...forget about it. Unreal!! Seriously, so crispy, spicy and delicious! The crowd was going nuts for it.
Not to mention it was so awesome having a pal my size (well double my size but close) around to play with. Baby David (who's not such a baby anymore....) sat right across from me and let me kick him all through dinner.
The big kids later got to exchange gifts with a Yankee swap...they are a bunch of idiots. Don't even ask.
I had enough so baby David came to help me brush my teeth with my mom (the elf ruler) and I went down for the night...
In the morning I woke up and had a big breakfast, took a bath and got cozied up. I was ready to go....for a nap. Partying is rough!
I was woken up by a bark from Cubby who showed up in a shirt that matches his fathers Guncles JC and Chris. Collar popped and all. I was soooo excited to play with the Cubster! He's soooo cute!!
My girl Alicia also came by for some holiday cheer and was looking cute as ever. I made her a drink and cuddled up for the rest of the afternoon...I'm no fool...I ended the weekend with a concert in the apartment. Shows will be going on daily through the new year. Be sure to get your tickets and check me out! Foo Foo and all.
Happy Holidays to my family, friends and readers! Love you tons, Gavin. xx
