Solid Gold

It seems like just yesterday when I was writing about a jam packed weekend...well, here we go again!  For those of you don't know, my Mom is a little bit nuts.  She makes 100 and 1 plans always!  I woke up on Saturday morning with a huge smile on my face giggling as Mom came to get me for breakfast.  When I finished eating Papa came into the room and said, "Let's go to Target, gang!"  We got dressed and hopped into the car to hit up Target in Brooklyn right over the Manhattan bridge.  I passed out pretty on cue of the car pulling out of the driveway and didn't wake up until we were back home for my 11am feeding.  I heard it was a successful trip to Target though!
After lunch, Mom ran out to get her nails done.  When she got home she was cleaning up, putting the Target items away and then whisked me off for a bath - thankfully because I was a stinky pigpen!  Mom and Dad had plans for dinner with Bill and Sara.  It was a special evening as they were going to Blue Hill Stone Barns.  For those of you who don't watch Top Chef - let me explain.  Blue Hill (which was once featured and was part of a challenge on Top Chef / Mom and Dad's favorite reality TV show, besides Idol) is a beautiful restaurant on a huge farm where chef Dan Barber prides himself on a farm to table menu.  He offers either a 5 course or 8 course tasting menu and uses only fresh, seasonal ingredients.  YUM YUM.  Well ask me why I wasn't invited?  I'm not allowed.  Kiddies under 5 years old won't make it in.  UNLESS it's an event on the weekend which they do often and Mom promised she'd take me to!  Anyway, Tana was supposed to babysit and called while Mom and Dad were at Target to tell them she got a fever and couldn't make it.  Mom remained calm and started to think.  Kelly!  Kelly, Rob and Hunter live 3 minutes from the Farm in Westchester and we thought they'd love to hang with me!  Well they did!  They were so excited!  So we picked up Bill and Sara and drove out to Kelly's.  I was so excited to hang out with Hunter.  He was so good to me!  We played and he helped me with my bottle and my PJ's!  Thank you so much for watching over me while Mom and Dad dined out Farling Family...I love you!
Mom, Dad, Bill and Sara had an incredible meal.  They opted for the 8 course and were delighted by each plate.  During the meal Mom asked the servers a couple of questions...
1.)  Do you know John Hittinger?  I work with his sister...
2.)  Can I take home some bread and butter?
Let me explain -
1.)  The servers said yes John is here up in the pastry room handling the meats.  Huh?  Don't ask.  Well the benefit of this question was at the end of their meal they took us to the back to go and view the kitchen and see how it operates and meet Dan Barber himself!  Since Mom, Dad, Bill and Sara are huge fans of top chef and major foodies they were extremely excited by this introduction!
2.)  The bread was out of this world.  Warm, crusty, light and fluffy.  Mom couldn't live without it and had to take some home.  The butter - was soft, salty and delicious and she had to have it for her bread.  They said no problem at all and packed her up a bag!
No no...not embarrassing at all!  On their way out, of course Mom insisted on a picture...wouldn't expect anything less from my dear mother.
I woke up on Sunday missing Kelly, Rob and Hunter.  I had so much fun with them and wondered where they were...Mom explained that we will see them again this Friday!  Phew.  I got nervous there for a second!  After eating this morning, Papa came into the room and said "Let's go to Whole Foods and Babies R Us!"  Oh lord.  Seriously?  Fine, I'll just go to sleep in my stroller. I guess being bundled up in a sherpa blanket and pushed around all morning long is not so bad!  After my lunch the Cohens came over for an adult lunch.  Chloe and I hung out on my mat for a little while and then it was time to head off to Sloan Silver's 1st birthday party.
On the way to the party I thought I'd take a nap.  Well I was the real life of the party when we arrived...
When I woke up I was wondering why there were a million kids surrounding me and quickly realized where I was.  It was fun to hang out with all of Sloan's friends for a little bit!  I especially love Syd the Kid - Andy's sis's daughter!
After the party we ran home to watch the big game.  WOW...what a tense game between the US and Canada!  I'll be honest, I didn't care much who won because no matter who took the gold, being a dual citizen - I'd win no matter what!  So, why not take another nap I thought?!  I feel asleep on Mom right before the US team scored and tied the game at 2-2.  She was trying so hard not to jump up and scream....especially when Sid Crosby scored the winning goal for Canada!  Woo HOOOOO!!!  Go MA!  I'm so happy for you - I know this was a big important game for your country!
I'm very proud of my countries.  USA took the most medals and Canada took the most golds!  Who could ask for anything more?  Congrats to all of the athletes this year - it was a memorable Olympics for me!  Can't wait till the 2012 summer games...
