Too bad the emmy's are over because I will tell you this - NBC news and the rest of the mass market media could have won a major award for their performances over the past couple of days...
It all started on Wednesday. We got an email from Poppy telling us to put our umbrellas away. Well Poppy and Granny get pretty excited over rain and snow falls and we appreciate their concern, always. But! We know when to react and when not too. The hype was over a hurricane that was brewing. I had never seen a hurricane before so I was pretty excited to meet this one...named Earl. Earl was due to hit us on Thursday night. So they said. We were confident that it wasn't going to hit us hard enough to do any damage so we just went about our business on Wednsday and waited. Until Thursday rolled around...Mom and I went to Target to run some errands and and Papa was golfing. While were were out we got a call from the nice man who helps us out with our house. He said to my mom - you want me to come and put all of your outdoor furniture away? She said No thanks! He said, you sure? I'm putting away the furniture for everyone else in your development because the furniture is going to fly away! Yikes. Ok - well we don't want to be the one jerk in the neighborhood with a chair through our window, so go for it. We came home and all of the furniture was piled up in the sunroom. For those of you who know my mom you know she has a disease called OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) and she cannot stand clutter, mess, dirt, etc. So I'm sure you can imagine she was crawling out of her skin when we walked in. So we spent the day waiting for Earl to arrive. We thought what better way to enjoy this hurricane then by having a party! Well, that's what they were suggesting on the news anyway...so we figured let's do it! We invited Rachel, Lenny and Dov over and while we drank wine and ate a fabulous meal of shrimp tacos we waited...and waited...and waited...and all we seemed to get was a bit of rain. Seriously man? SERIOUSLY??? I now understand the story the boy who cried wolf.
The good news in all this is...I had a great day! Ate a ton of great food and got lots of QT with my papa and our friends!
Thanks to my Papa...for bringing all the patio furniture back out first thing this morning and making our outdoor oasis beautiful again. You're my hero - I love you!
