My last two days in Toronto were spent eating like a pig. Starting on Monday I went to Paradise, a dim sum restaurant that my Boobie Frieda is a huge supporter of. She goes almost every single week with Uncle Ronnie and they sometimes invite special guests. Well this week the special guest was ME. She is treated like a minor celebraty at this place. As soon as she walks in the waiters rush to her to get her seated at her favorite table, all covered with crisp white linens (all class all the time for Boobie F) and immediately bring her a bowl of plum sauce (AKA duck sauce to Americans). Uncle Ronnie had the order done when we arrived so the food arrived as soon as we sat down. I couldn't help but stuff my face with noodles. They were greasy and delicious and I managed to get them all over my face, the chair and the floor. Boobie felt compelled to give her waiters an extra large tip for the trouble of cleaning up my very big mess...she didn't want to risk her status at Paradise. God forbid!
That night Mom, Boobie Vici, Aunt Mandy and Uncle Jason took me to another Chinese food spot - their favorite: Lee Gardens. It's an oldie but a goodie located down in China town. They grew up going to this restaurant and there are a few very special dishes that they can't live without: the spring rolls, the chicken and corn soup, lobster in black bean sauce, pineapple chicken and vegetable chow mein. The noodles in Toronto are completely different. They are light, thin, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They are sheer heaven. I had yet to experience such noodles because in the states they don't seem to have the same noodle. Their noodle is fat, soggy and just not nearly as tasty. I may have to come back to this place when we revisit Toronto in October...
My final day in Toronto was spent at Boobie F's. Boobie V and Lindsey came to hang and so did Aunt Debi. But Aunt Debi wasn't herself. She was wearing a mask. Does she have Sars I thought? Mom explained that she had a sniffle and didn't want to get me sick. Good thinking! I like the look. Really cute. Of course Boobie F fed me more of her delectable food so I wouldn't get on the plane hungry. I'm full Boobie! Finally! But I cannot wait to come back for more of your good ol' fashion home cookin!!
