Say Cheese

Rise and Shine sleepy head!  Mom had to come into my room this morning and actually woke me up.  That was a first!  I took a nice long stretch and quickly realized it was feeding time.  Slurp slurp!  Without very much time to digest, Ma got me dressed and out the door.  Where the heck are we going Mom?  And how come you're not throwing me down on the bath mat for your shower? You smell good...you're dressed already...something is off today!  Well here's the scoop...Mom is Canadian as you all know and today was her appointment with the government to renew her green card.  This is called Biometrics.  She had to hit the Varick Street INS office to get her fingerprints taken as well as a new picture for her new green card that will arrive in the mail in the next 6 months.  We had to take a cab downtown to make this appointment on time...if you're late...you're in trouble.  So Mom strapped me into the ergo and away we went.  weeeeeee!

We arrived promptly at 7:45am and when we walked in we were greeted by a very large framed photo of President Obama and Vice President Biden.  Mom told me that when she was last at this office she had to stare at photos of Bushie and Cheney and it would make her blood pressure rise upon sight.  Mom was pretty relaxed compared to how she used to be when visiting these offices.  We waited in line and got to go through the security machine by 8am.  As we walked through...Mom started to beep.  The head police officer came over and look afraid to ask..."Um, Ma'am - I'll need to take your boots and run them through the scanner.  I'm glad to help you if you just have a seat over here...sorry to inconvenience you...".  Mom was clearly annoyed BUT also pleased with the soft and caring tone this man took.  Usually these guards feel as so they have some kind of power over the "resident aliens" as Mom is referred to while living as a Canadian Citizen in the United States.  So Mom took off her boots, they ran them through and away we went to the 10th floor.  The woman who helped us was so nice!  She took a great interest in me and was really nice to Mom while she had to take her fingerprints with me asleep on her chest.  Say Cheese!  Mom had her photo taken...unluckily for her she didn't look too good...she didn't wash her hair and her makeup was sloppy.  Jeez Ma...this was an important green card picture!  Couldn't you have put some extra thought into your look today?  The whole process here was pretty quick.  When we were done we made a quick pitstop at Whole Foods and the bank.  We got home around 10am...

Now...down to business.  Mom fed me lunch and then we had to set up for our big afternoon with the Bowery Babes.  We were hosting this week's Chat N Chew!  How exciting!  I was very jazzed up for all of my baby friends to come over.  Mom put out a great spread and then got me dressed.  I gave her my advice on what cheese to serve and where to put everything while hanging out on my mat...
The event was called for 1pm.  When 1pm rolled around no one arrived.  Mom and I looked at each other and thought - woah....is anyone going to show?  We'll be eating cheese and guacamole for the next week if not!  1:15 turned the clock and our first guests knocked on the door!  We were very excited.  It was Carmen and baby Hannah!   Right after they arrived the babies started flowing through the doorway and we had a great turn out!  I think there were 10 or 12 mom's with their babies at our place.  We all had a ball falling asleep on our moms, waking up and crying, staring at each other, etc..  Who could ask for a better afternoon?!

Remember last week I told you about Zola? Well we slept together today...on our Mom's...then we woke up next to each other...what a great way to spend our first date!
DISCLOSURE:  Please excuse my fat neck in this picture - Mom did NOT take this shot from a very good angle - I'm very embarrassed.  The gang left by 4pm and at this point Mom and I got onto the computer to Skype with Boobie.  We hadn't talked to her in a couple days and I missed her!  We took a load off after wards and then Papa came home.  Before I knew it he was walking towards me with a large cupcake with 3 candles lit in it.  It's my 3 month birthday today!  Yeesh this felt like deja vu...the last time I experienced this cupcake episode was a month ago!  At least it's no longer every week...Thanks for thinking of me Mom and Dad!  I love you guys!
